The academic board: what it does, and where it stands.

An independent Academic Advisory and Editorial Board advises on academic quality and publishing ethics across our conferences and journals, and a panel of subject specialists reviews the venues that apply to publish here. Everyone named on this page has accepted their appointment in writing. Appointments continue, and this page is updated as each one is confirmed — never before.

How it is organised

Who upholds standards, and what each part does.

Academic Advisory Board

Senior academics from several countries and disciplines. They advise on academic quality and publishing ethics. The role is honorary and unpaid, and it is advisory: the board does not decide individual papers, and it does not run the company.

IndependentAdvisory

Board Chair & Secretary

A senior scholar chairs the board. Our editorial office acts as secretary: it convenes meetings, keeps the minutes, and maintains the register of declared interests.

Board Members

Members read our policies before they are issued, question them, and advise on ethics cases the editorial office refers to them — authorship disputes, suspected misconduct, corrections and retractions.

The board

Academic Advisory & Editorial Board.

Senior scholars who read our policies before they are issued and advise on the ethics cases our editorial office refers up. The board is advisory and independent: it does not manage the company, and it does not decide the fate of any individual paper. Service is honorary and unpaid.

Institutional profile

What we publish about each person, and what we do not. A name, the post and institution held, the country, the role held with us, and any interests that person has declared. Declarations are recorded in a register kept by the editorial office and published here as they are made. Nobody appears on this page until they have accepted in writing, and anyone may step down at any time without notice or explanation — we remove the entry promptly and will not describe a former member as current. Board and specialist service is honorary and unpaid; being paid by the company would compromise the independence the roles exist to provide.

Appointments are still open.

We are still appointing, particularly in fields outside computing and engineering. If you would like to be considered, or to suggest someone, the roles are set out in full on our information for editors page — or write to info@techfist.org.

The rules the board advises on are published.

Read how the board sits beside the company, what our ethics policies commit us to, and what each editorial role actually involves before you agree to one.
